A.J. Brown shares why he plans to watch Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua during Eagles’ defensive plays
A.J. Brown, widely regarded as one of the top five wide receivers in the NFL, is constantly striving to elevate his game. Known for his adaptability, Brown isn’t shy about studying his peers to refine his craft, whether it’s borrowing a release technique or tweaking his routes.
This week, as the Philadelphia Eagles gear up to face a dynamic Los Angeles Rams offense, Brown has his eyes set on learning from Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. The Rams’ star duo has been making waves since returning from injuries, reestablishing themselves as one of the league’s most dangerous receiving tandems.
Last week, Kupp and Nacua showcased their dominance with a combined 229 receiving yards and three touchdowns against the Patriots. Since their return in Week 8, they’ve continued to put up big numbers. Kupp has tallied 341 yards and three touchdowns on 29 catches, going over 100 yards twice in four games. Meanwhile, Nacua has added 338 yards and a touchdown on 24 receptions, proving to be equally impactful.
Like he did against the Bengals while observing Ja’Marr Chase, Brown plans to study Kupp and Nacua from the sidelines when the Eagles’ defense is on the field.
“There’s always something to learn,” Brown said. “If I see something I like, I might try it in the game.”
Brown himself is having an outstanding season, leading the NFL among players with 30+ receptions with an impressive 18.7 yards per catch. His 618 receiving yards rank him fourth overall in yards per game (88.3), trailing only Nico Collins (103.5), Ja’Marr Chase (96.0), and Justin Jefferson (91.2).
Together with DeVonta Smith, Brown forms one of just two NFL wide receiver duos with multiple 40+ yard touchdowns, sharing that distinction with the New Orleans Saints’ Shaheed and Valdes-Scantling.
As Brown continues to dominate on the field, his commitment to learning from fellow elite players like Kupp and Nacua exemplifies why he remains at the top of his game. Eagles fans can expect Brown to use these insights to fuel his performance in the weeks ahead.
